Test development and migration
Once we have a system up and running, it is advisable to do two things. The order is not terribly important, and both can be done at the same time:
One is to try the new system and see what is new, what has changed, and what has dropped. We have a series of articles on ‘Moving from Metastorm BPM 7 to 9’ at http://www.processmapping.com.au/MBPMv7Tov9/index.html that explains many of the differences.
The other is to attempt migration of a few processes that we currently have in production. This will give us a feel for what we shall be seeing when we do migrate. Bear in mind that the database will be different, as we cannot run these two versions in the same database until 9.1. We will discuss the possible problems we may get in our next article.
